Kate graduated from Princeton University in 1996 and went on to achieve a Master’Äôs of Arts in Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute in 2004.  For her Master’Äôs thesis she conducted a qualitative study on the causes of teacher burnout and effective coping strategies for at-risk teachers.  While at Phillips, Kate also received a certificate in Chemical Dependency.  She then interned for three years at the Southern California Counseling Center, and completed the AAMFT certification in Family Therapy there.   Additionally, Kate has nine years of experience working with children as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Kate is currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern with a private practice in Santa Monica.  She also supervises teen counselors at TEEN LINE, a peer-to-peer crisis hotline located at Cedars Sinai Medical Center (www.teenlineonline.org).
